I guess you’ve noticed that I’ve been absent since my last update. Well, I have been in Spain enjoying the weather. It felt rather odd, as I’m not too fond of heat or getting tanned.
I must admit that this was totally different from the kind of vacations I’ve been on before. First of all, I was surrounded by Norwegians, Swedes, Germans and so on. So, it was just like being home only that the environment looked different from what we’re used to these days. Driving through the towns you could find road sign saying: “Norwegian Doctor”. If that was not surprising enough, you could find Norwegian bars and restaurants around every corner carrying typical Norwegian names. It was quite disturbing. Going to the supermercado you would find the latest issue of VG or Dagbladet (Norwegian newspaper).
Apparently I look Finnish since 80% of the waiters at the restaurants asked me if I was from Finland. When I exclaimed that I was Norwegian they would talk back to me in my own language. Oh how bizarre. I am, after all, used to travel places where people don’t know where the hell Norway is.
As I’m starting to feel that I’m getting old, turning 25 and all that (Oh my), going to Gran Canaria was like finding the fountain of youth. I mean, all the people I ever saw was around 60+. Most of them should have had an instruction course about sunscreen and ‘how to not look like a lobster, fucking up your skin, making you look like a red raisin’. Dear God, don’t let me become like that when I’m 60 and above.
Did you guys enjoy the snow while I was away?
